Year of the Dragon
A 2024 Calendar
To start off 2024 right I decided to design a calendar based on the Chinese Zodiac in my own style. 2024 is the year of the Dragon (龍), the 5th animal of the 12-year cycle and it is associated with the Earthly Branch symbol (辰). It is generally a symbol of luck and power which makes it a highly coveted year to be born in. Specifically, 2024 is the year of the Wood (木) Dragon (one of the 5 elements from the Wuxing, a traditional Chinese philosophy that applies in many fields of esoteric studies).
The main dragon illustration for this calendar was generated using Midjourney AI and then edited to adapt it to the overall design. Like most of my recent works, the style I decided to went for is the Acid/Brutalist Aesthetic. Associated to the dragon are also his lucky numbers : 1, 6 and 7. The calendar comes in 2 colorways/versions : Green & Yellow, which are said to be the lucky colors associated with the sign. Each version also has a Chrome variation to give it a more "premium" look.
